Over 2024, 9fin distressed team was busy reporting about 41 companies that successfully completed their restructurings. Plenty more companies are in the process of resolving their difficulties with negotiations spilling into 2025 (9fin clients can see our in-progress list) or are expected to embark on that journey soon (9fin clients can see our watchlist).

Unsurprisingly, our most read stories were about Altice France and Ardagh with mammoth capital structures that are widely invested. Our coverage of Victoria was also among the top articles for its unexpected LME shenanigans that 9fin was first to break.

The European market had to quickly come up to speed with the new concepts of liability management exercises (LMEs) and co-operation agreements that were spilling over from the US brought over by global advisory shops.

So far, though, the market clung to the restructuring concepts and jurisdictions it knows best.
