It’s not quite the madness of 2021, but the market is firing again, and LBOs and other new money deals are on their way back. With a busy summer ahead for high yield, we’ve taken a look at the key figures and trends in our Q2 European High Yield Report

European HY companies issued €39bn in Q2 24, a 74% jump from 2023. H1 24 totalled €66bn, about €30bn higher than H1 23, underlining the confidence in the market, despite divergent global prospects for rate cuts.

Industry insights

Consumer discretionary retained its top spot in the second quarter, as both UK and EU consumer confidence rose — we followed 14 deals with a combined value of €8bn. ZF’s $1.5bn refinancing led on volume in the sector.
