On the face of it, the European CLO market is booming, having hardly taken a break over the summer. There has been €74bn of Euro CLO issuance year-to-date, including €41bn in new issuance and another €33bn from resets, refinancing and reissues according to 9fin data.

But behind the headline figures lies a more complex market underpinned by technical pressures, regulatory headwinds, investor shifts, and credit quality concerns, according to panelists at the S&P Global Ratings' European Structured Finance Conference 2025 yesterday (3 September).
