Private equity firm Veritas Capital has been working with multiple investment banks to finance a potential rival bid to acquire Dun & Bradstreet, according to 9fin sources.

Such a bid would be an attempt to out-muscle Clearlake Capital, which last month agreed to acquire Dun & Bradstreet, a long-standing data and analytics provider that is currently publicly traded, for $7.7bn.

At the same time, Clearlake has received a flurry of inbound interest in recent weeks from direct lenders looking to participate in a private term loan led by Ares Management, which would fund Clearlake’s acquisition of the company, multiple sources told 9fin.
