Skadden associates seek to boycott recruiting after pro bono deal
- Rachel Butt
Certain associates across Skadden are looking to boycott future recruitment events after the elite law firm inked a pro bono deal to avoid executive orders, according to sources.
In an anonymous email being circulated among Skadden and obtained by 9fin, ‘Skadden Associate’ wrote that "I cannot in good faith recruit future associates to a firm which has agreed to remain passive in — let alone one that has agreed to take an active role in — the undermining of the rule of law.”
Further, the email says, “I know many of you feel the same. And, despite the agreement announcement today, it is not too late for the Firm to seek recourse in the courts. As attorneys, there are limited ways we can make our voices heard that are not inconsistent with our ethical obligations to our clients. Recruiting is one of those ways."
